Lördag den 10 augusti 2019: vi ses!
Published: August 11, 2019
I've been talking about goodbyes for the past several days, but today was the real goodbye of the session. Our villagers headed home today. We have a saying about goodbyes at Sjölunden; instead of saying hej då (goodbye) in Swedish, we say vi ses (see you later), knowing our paths will cross again in one way or another. I know vi ses is true for me! I was absent from Sjölunden from 2009 to 2015, and when I started working against in 2016, I met old friends I thought I might never see again.
Some villagers had to leave early this morning on the bus. Others were able to stay for a presentation for friends and family. We sang our greatest Sjölunden hits and talked about some of the things we did this session, such as our language groups, interest activities, and evening programs.
After the presentation, we started to head home. Villagers, friends, and family had a last chance to buy Sjölunden merchandise at the store, and some we able to stay around to chat and say some more vi ses. And that's what I would like to say to you too: vi ses i 2020!
I'll make one more post tonight or tomorrow with a few videos and photos from this year at Sjölunden that haven't yet appeared on the blog. Stick around! You can also expect some updates throughout the year on the Sjölunden Instagram and on our Facebook pages, Sjölunden Swedish Language Village and Friends of Sjölunden - Bemidji. Check them out! You might be able to connect with Sjölunden friends or learn about some of the things we do during the academic year.
