Our youth summer sessions have finally begun!
We have been counting down the days for over a week. It was so wonderful to see both old and new faces walking up to our front table!
Villagers went through the steps of getting passports stamped, choosing Finnish names, unpacking, and settling in. Once all of the parents left, we took some time to visit different stations on-site to learn more about the pankki (bank), kioski (kiosk), ranta (beach) rules, the nurse's office, and a very special project taking place at Salolampi this summer. Scroll down to the bottom of this page to learn more!
Here are some pics from our opening day!
We are so excited to see where this week goes! Be sure to come back tomorrow for more of our first week of the summer youth sessions!
Concordia Language Villages' Group Director, Alexander Arguelles will be spending two weeks submerging himself into the Finnish language at Salolampi. Finnish is one of the very few languages he does not know how to speak, and we can't wait to see the changes that take place during his time here! He will be combining his own way of learning languages with community-based learning that takes place at Concordia Language Villages. If you would like to remain updated on his project, suitably titled "From Start to Finnish", we recommend that you like both the Concordia Language Villages and Salolampi Facebook pages! You will find more daily videos like this:
