Hei Hei Salolampilaiset!

Published: July 1, 2019

On Saturday we said "hei hei" to our Salolampilaiset during our closing ceremony. It is always hard to see our villagers go. We have been having such a great time getting to know them better day by day!

To kick off the program, Concordia Language Villages' new Group Director for the Language Immersion Programs, Alexander Arguelles, known as Yrjö here at Salolampi, visited us to talk about his two weeks at Salolampi and his love for learning languages!

During the closing ceremony, villagers got to showcase some of the things they have done and learned in their pelit ja projektit (games and projects) groups.

Inkeri and Olli's group showed us all of the new sauna vocab they learned!
Cecelia and Risto's group doing the "head, shoulders, knees and toes, knees and toes" song in Finnish.
Joonatan's group talked about how they learned Finnish through playing games!
Saga and Laura's group was always up to creating and performing their own skits in Finnish.
Jenni and Matti's group also came up with their own skit. Theirs included the Salolampi song!
Vilma and Sofia's group told us all about their density science experiment. And they told us about it all in Finnish!

Villagers were then given a certificate for completing a session at Salolampi!

To finish, we took some time to recognize those who have been villagers for 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 times with pins and medallions!

Afterward, villagers stopped by the kioski one last time with their families, gave their friends hugs goodbye, and packed up their cars!

Waiting for their jäätelöä (ice cream)!
With the fishing rod that she made at Salolampi in hand!

Thank you so much to the parents and enthusiastic villagers for making these past two weeks so amazing! We hope you made memories that will last a lifetime. Oikein paljon kiitoksia!
