Published: November 20, 2018
Becky Annika Hegstad, Dean of Language Discovery Programs, was a presenter at last week’s ACTFL (American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages) national convention in New Orleans, LA. The conference attracts approximately 8,000 language educators on a yearly basis, and features the latest trends and best practices in the field of foreign language teaching. We're so proud that she was invited to present!
Hegstad’s presentation, Trade Desk Time for Experiential Learning, centered around communication based activities which utilize purposeful play to engage learners of all ages and language levels. Attendees had the opportunity to experience first hand how play enhances learning, as they were introduced to Norwegian through activities which incorporate interpretive, presentational and interpersonal modes of communication, and where assessment is inherent to the progression.
Visitors to the Concordia Language Villages' booth got to taste some treats as they stopped by to ask questions about the diversity of programming offered through Concordia Language Villages. It's always a pleasure to meet curious people from all over the world!
