Today at Lesnoe Ozero, classes were focused on another important aspect of life, 'что я ношу' (‘what I wear’). Villagers in the younger classes made paper puppets for themselves, which they drew and then dressed in clothes of their choice, all the while describing and practicing the vocabulary necessary to talk about clothes and parts of the body.
At cultural hours, our counselor Dasha led a class on cooking, where villagers prepared драники (draniki), traditional potato pancakes.
Our evening program today was based on dumplings of the Russian-speaking world, and at dinner villagers were served пельмени (pelmeni), вареники (vareniki), хинкали (khinkali), and манты (manty), and learned about the origins and cultural importance of each of these dishes.
