August 15th, 2018 - Our Favorite Little Songs
Published: August 15, 2018
We had a strong start to our second day of the session when four of our courageous campers volunteered to be heros of the Russian language, meaning that they spoke Russian from the end of breakfast until the end of lunch! All four of them stepped up to the challenge and all four of them received stars to wear on their tablichki for their accomplishment! This was great practice for our evening program today. After our sausage and mushroom dinner, we all separated into our camp families to practice singing beloved songs from classic, Soviet cartoons. Not only was it a fun way to spend the evening, but participants also became familiarized with an important aspect of Russian culture. After a short rehearsal, each camp family performed their song in front of the camp. By the end of the last performance, everyone was all smiles. Lucky for us, the singing didn’t stop their. After our evening program, we all gathered around the campfire and sang together once again. We even had a full orchestra thanks to our counselors and parent, with violins, an accordion, guitar, and drums!
