L’examen de chavirement
Published: June 24, 2016
As we prepare for our upcoming trip in Voyageurs National Park, we are making sure that all villagers have the skills needed to succeed on the voyage. Yesterday everyone participated in one of the most anticipated events of the summer: l'examen de chavirement, or flip test! To successfully pass this test, villagers practice rescuing a capsized canoe. First, villagers deliberately overturn their canoe into the lake and yell for help. Another pair of villagers arrive in a canoe and grab onto the overturned canoe, forming a "T." Villagers then work together to lift the sunken canoe onto the upright canoe, where it can be turned and then pushed back into the lake. Finally, the villagers crawl back into the canoe and paddle away safely. It's a fun and exciting time for all!
Tomorrow we leave for le grand voyage, a six-day canoeing and camping trip in Voyageurs National Park in northern Minnesota. There, villagers will get a chance to practice their canoeing and camping skills, not to mention participating in fun activities and working together as a team! The blog and Facebook page won't be updated during this time, but our Twitter will be, so please follow along: https://twitter.com/VoyageursCLV?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor
Until next week!
