Le Grand Voyage
Published: June 29, 2018
At our last feu de camp of the Grand Voyage, villagers were asked to reflect on the highlights of their past week and a half. We heard many different answers: canoe wars at the beach on My Island, laughing together at base site, singing in canoes, jumping between Canada and the United States on the International Island, and waking up at 2am to paddle beneath the full moon. It is a special group of villagers who will enthusiatically wake up so early, but our two brigades had the incredible opportunity to see both the full moon shining on the water of Lake Sandpoint and the colors of the sunrise reflected on the clouds at the same time.
The next day, our two-weekers and four-weekers said goodbye, as the two-weekers headed back to base camp near Bemidji and the four-weekers headed to Winnipeg to visit a real Francophone city. Our two brigades bonded well over the past couple weeks, sharing tents and laughter. We wished each other bon voyage, made promises to stay in touch, and headed off to new adventures.
As it can be difficult to post to this blog when we are en voyage, be sure to follow us on Twitter: https://twitter.com/VoyageursCLV ! We are occassionally able to post to Twitter from Voyageurs National Park, and also frequently post photos when we are at base camp.
Parents of four-weekers, watch your mailbox for another update soon.
