Bonjour ! Hello! Today's theme was Eurovision, a long-running annual international TV song competition held in Europe. We learned about France, Belgium, and Switzerland's long-running participation in Eurovision, which was founded in 1956! For our evening program, or veillée, we had our own Eurovision at Lac du Bois in which we discovered our villagers' hidden talents, including singing and dancing! Click here to see a video of the performances.
Today was our first day in our activities, which include Explo (an exploration of a Francophone country, culture, or time period), stage (literally "internship", or project-based learning), and passe-temps, or chosen pastime activities. Villagers had a great time playing get-to-know-you games, and participating in classes such as jewelry making and translation. Our four-week credit villagers have passed the halfway mark of their time here, and are busy working on their final portfolios, studying grammar, and immersing themselves in French!
