Coq au vin (chicken in wine sauce) for dinner

Bonjour, tout le monde!  Hello, everybody! Today we welcomed sixteen one-week villagers and ten families to our French Language Village. After passing through la douane (customs), picking a French name, and turning in contrebande such as cell phones and books in English, villagers got settled into their cabins for some bonding and name games. 

For dinner, we enjoyed a tomato salad, coq au vin, carrots, potatoes, baguette, and a delicious cake prepared by our cuisiniers  (chefs). We’re excited to see what other french-speaking regions we’ll sample food from over the next week!

After dinner, villagers went on a tour of the site, and monos (counselors) performed sketches to explain the systems at Lac du Bois. We learned how to be safe at the beach, how to buy candy during free time, and discussed many other important aspects of life at Lac du Bois! Then we headed to the campfire to sing bonsoir les loups (goodnight wolves) before heading off to bed.

We’re excited for a busy day tomorrow and a week filled with French, friendship, and lots of fun. We’ll be posting regularly on the blog, so make sure to check back often to see what we’re up to.
