Palestine Simulation Day!

Published: July 30, 2019

Assalamu alaikum, everyone, and welcome back to our blog! Today was a chilly day, but that didn't stop us from enjoying life at  Al-Wāḥa to the fullest!

The musalsal today saw Fathia and Aladdin turned into camels after the genie gets fed up with their arguing over him. Then the genie finds himself enamored with Rabab Hood, our pirate from earlier in the musalsal, and advises her to rob Aladdin who has become filthy rich. As part of today's episode, we additionally included a verse of the song "Hakuna Matata," which two of our villagers taught.

During the arts and sports period, villagers practiced wood-burning their nametags, belly-danced, and cooked.

After dinner, we held our evening program on Palestine.

At one station, villagers learned about living conditions in Palestine and tried a simulation of what it's like to walk through the streets of Palestine, which can have exposed wires.

At another station, villagers learned about the apartheid wall, and how the residents of Bethlehem have tried to make the wall more beautiful through art.

Afterward, we held a Q&A session about the evening program, had cabin council, and headed to bed!

Thanks for your attention! We'll see you next time!
