Maghreb Night with Lac du Bois!

Published: July 31, 2019

Marhaban bikum! Welcome to our latest blog post! Today was an exciting day, as we held Maghreb (Morocco) Night, our annual exchange with Lac du Bois.

Of course, we started off our day at Al-Wāḥa! In the latest episode of the musalsal, Aladdin is robbed by Rabab Hood and the genie at sword-point. Aladdin also ends up losing the magic lamp to Fathia in a game of rock-paper-scissors.

Aladdin loses everything...

even the magic lamp!

After taking our naps, we headed to the French camp Lac du Bois. There, villagers participated in a variety of activities:

eating mana'eesh (bread with za'tar and sesame)!

sitting by the water fountain!

waiting to enter the dukkan (store)!

playing a game of chess!

making a bracelet!

relaxing with yoga!

playing soccer!

beading!

watching a giant game of chess!

Following free time, we exchanged songs with Lac du Bois:

In the evening program, villagers participated in activities common to North Africa, and solved a map puzzle by listening to speakers of Arabic, French, Tamazighi, Wolof, and English at different stations.

learning how to protect our faces from the Sahara!

getting henna tattoos!

solving our map puzzle!

and drumming!

Finally, we debriefed the evening program, and headed back to Al-Wāḥa and bed!

Thank you for reading! See you tomorrow!
