A couple of years ago, thirty-two soldiers from Fort Stewart participated in a two-week immersion program at the Language Villages. The pre– and post–test score comparisons of these soldiers revealed the following increase in language proficiency:
87.5% of soldiers showed measurable improvement in their OPIc scores.
Of the 18 soldiers who scored Novice Low at the beginning, 50% improved to Novice Mid, while 39% improved to Novice High.
1/3 of all soldiers who scored higher on their post-test improved by two rating levels.
