Educator Programs

Concordia Language Villages offers a variety of professional development programs year-round. We also welcome groups of students with their teachers for language immersion experiences throughout the academic year and in the summer.

Professional Development for Educators

Educators work with program counselors and teachers at the Language Villages.

Drawing on more than 50 years of experience and work with some of the finest teacher-educators in the country, Concordia Language Villages offers specialized programming at both the Turtle River Lake site near Bemidji, Minn. and at The Forest International Retreat Center near Stillwater, Minn.

In the summer, teachers can participate in a 10-day course, Second Language and Immersion Methodologies. This course can be taken independently or as the first course in the Master of Education in World Language Instruction, a program of Concordia College combining online instruction during the academic year with summer coursework at Concordia Language Villages.

Additionally, Concordia Language Villages offers workshops and consulting services for schools and school districts to help them achieve their educational goals.

School Groups

Students from schools across the country experience the Language Villages signature immersion programs with their classmates in the summer and during the academic year.

Educators bring groups of students to a variety of programs during the academic year and during the summer. Programs include one day field trips at The Forest, as well as long weekend or week-long programs at our architecturally authentic sites near Bemidji, Minn.

Teachers routinely indicate that their students return from a Language Villages experience with a noticeable increase in enthusiasm and excitement for the language. Students get to speak to a variety of native speakers from other countries, eat foods from other countries, and participate in festivals, dances or cultural events that help bring the language to life.

Teacher Resources

In addition to providing invaluable opportunities for professional development and programs for school groups, we provide teachers with resources for use in the classroom and beyond. Whether you are looking for activities to share with your classroom, tools to aid with assessment or links to research about language acquisition, Concordia Language Villages can help you.
